The Miniature Engine that Could
Jaycar is continuing its support of the Portarlington Bayside Miniature Railway by supplying UHF Hand Held Radios for use on their miniature railway system.
The Portarlington Bayside Miniature Railway was opened in 1999 by members of the Drysdale Rotary Club together with the Geelong Society of Model and Experimental Engineers. Not only is this Geelong’s only 7.25 and 5 inch Miniature Railway, it is also Australia’s only Miniature Railway located on a foreshore.
An entirely volunteer run organisation, half of the profits generated by the railway go to charities on the Bellarine Peninsula. We here at Jaycar are proud that we can provide new radios to enhance communications between the train operations crews, and improve the day-to-day running of the railway.
