SeaTalkhs equipment can rapidly distribute data to other compatible devices using the HS5 switch. This network allows for the sharing of information, such as digital radar and sonar data, as well as shared cartography between displays.
The HS5 switch is a 5-port RayNet connection that operates with 12V or 24V DC power. It supports network speeds of 10Mbit/sec, 100Mbit/sec, and 1000 Mbit/sec (only on the 5th port). Additionally, the Gigabit 5th port provides higher speed across switches, should a second switch be required.
If there are more than 5 SeaTalkhs devices in a system, additional switches are necessary. These switches can be connected together through 'daisy-chaining,' and the HS5 switch provides a dedicated high-speed (1000 Mbit/S) port for this purpose, allowing full data bandwidth throughout the system.
However, each switch only has one high-speed port, which limits the number of switches that can be connected through this method to 2. Any additional switches must be connected through a standard speed (100 Mbit/S) port.
It is important to note that the maximum number of SeaTalkhs devices that can be connected to a single system is 25.
